Couples Therapy in Eugene, Oregon

When you love each other, but something just isn't working.

Relationships can get complicated. Maybe you're having the same argument over and over, feeling more like roommates than partners, struggling to communicate without someone shutting down or blowing up, or wondering how you got so far away from each other.

Couples therapy can give you a place to slow things down, understand what's happening underneath the conflict, and begin finding your way back to each another or get clearer about what comes next.

Maybe this sounds familiar...

You keep having the same argument, even when you promise yourselves you won't.

One of you reaches for connection while the other pulls away.

You're carrying resentment that seems to show up in conversations that aren't really about the thing you're arguing about.

You love each other, but somewhere between work, kids, responsibilities, and life, you've stopped feeling like a couple.

Or maybe something bigger has happened: a betrayal, loss of trust, major life change, or the realization that you're no longer sure you want the same things.

You don't have to know exactly what's wrong, or even whether you want to stay together, to come to couples therapy. Sometimes figuring that out is part of the work.

Should we stay together?

Sometimes the hardest part isn't figuring out how to make the relationship better. It's figuring out whether you still want to be in it.

You may love your partner and still wonder if the relationship can work. You may feel torn between wanting to repair what's been hurt and imagining what life might look like apart. Or one of you may be ready to work on the relationship while the other isn't sure.

Therapy can give you a place to explore those questions without pressure to reach a particular answer. We can slow things down, look honestly at what's working and what isn't, and help each of you understand what you need and what you're willing to work toward.

The goal isn't to convince you to stay together or to tell you to separate. It's to help you make thoughtful, intentional decisions about what comes next.

What couples therapy with me looks like

I don't believe couples therapy should feel like sitting in a room while someone decides which one of you is right. My role is to help both of you feel seen and heard while we get curious about the patterns that keep pulling you away from each other.

We'll look at what each of you brings into the relationship, including the ways you learned to connect, protect yourself, handle conflict, and ask for what you need. Often, what looks like anger, withdrawal, defensiveness, or criticism makes a lot more sense when we understand what's happening underneath it.

Our work is collaborative, practical, and human. There will be room for hard conversations, but also for connection, humor, and those moments when you finally understand your partner, and maybe yourself, a little differently.

Couples therapy isn't about deciding who's right.

Most couples don't come to therapy because one person is the problem. They come because they've gotten caught in patterns that leave both people feeling hurt, frustrated, unseen, or disconnected.

In our work together, we'll slow those patterns down and look at what's happening underneath them. We'll pay attention to how each of you responds when you feel hurt, overwhelmed, rejected, or misunderstood, and how those responses affect your partner.

The goal isn't to eliminate conflict. It's to help you understand each other differently, communicate more clearly, repair when things go sideways, and create a relationship where both of you can feel seen and heard.
