  • THE RELATIONSHIP STUDIO LLC

Court, Legal Proceedings, and Professional Services Fee Agreement

    Provider: Julie Foshay, LMFT

    Court and Legal Proceedings Policy

The primary role of your therapist is to provide psychotherapy services that support your mental health and well-being. Participation in legal proceedings is outside the scope of routine therapy services and may interfere with the therapeutic relationship.

If you request that I participate in legal matters on your behalf—including providing records, writing letters, consulting with attorneys, preparing for court, giving depositions, or testifying—additional fees will apply.

    Court Preparation Fee

A non-refundable Court Preparation Fee of $500.00 is required before any legal involvement begins.

This fee covers activities including, but not limited to:

    • Review of your clinical record

    • Preparation for testimony

    • Communication with attorneys

    • Consultation regarding your case

    • Document review

    • Scheduling and administrative coordination

The Court Preparation Fee is due in full before any preparation work is initiated.

    Court Appearance and Testimony

Court appearances, depositions, hearings, arbitration, mediation, or any legal proceeding requiring my professional participation are billed at:

    $250.00 per hour

    Time is billed for:

    • Time spent testifying

    • Waiting to testify while under subpoena or court order

    • Travel to and from the courthouse or attorney's office

    • Meetings with attorneys related to the legal matter

    • Depositions

    • Required consultations regarding the case

Billing begins at the scheduled departure time from my office and ends upon my return.

Time is billed in one-hour increments.

    Payment Requirements

Unless prohibited by law or ordered otherwise by the court:

    • The $500 Court Preparation Fee must be paid before any legal preparation begins.

    • An advance retainer for anticipated court time may also be required before a court appearance.

    • Any remaining balance is due upon receipt of the final invoice.

The client requesting my participation is financially responsible for these fees regardless of the outcome of the legal matter.

    Professional Neutrality

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, my role is to provide objective clinical observations and professional opinions based on my treatment of the client. I do not serve as an advocate for either party in legal disputes and cannot guarantee that my testimony or opinions will support any particular legal position.

    Records Requests

Requests for treatment records, summaries, or other documentation may be subject to additional administrative fees as permitted by Oregon law.
